Jim's Love: Antonia

Willa Cather's, My Antonia, shows her view on a Pioneer's life.

If it were told more from Antonia's life you would hear more about her life, her children and he marriage.

Even though it was told by a woman from a mans point of view, it still seems as if it is a man talking. it was great to think that the whole time a man was really talking.

The name change was obvious. He still had feelings for her even after he heard about her pregnancy then
her marriage. He felt like even though she was married, Antonia was still his.

My Antonia was a great book from what I read. This book had its good moments and bad and others sad. Even with all that it was an amazing book.

Author Willa Cather embedded literary devices, such as metaphors, similes, and personification, within her writing.

"As I looked about me I felt that the grass was the country, as the water is the sea. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the colour of wine-stains, or of certain seaweeds when they are first washed up. And there was so much motion in it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running."

"The grave, with its tall red grass that was never mowed, was like a little island."

"Winter comes down savagely over a little town on the prairie.  The wind that sweeps in from the open country strips away all the leafy screens that hide one yard from another in summer, and the houses seem to draw closer together.  The roofs, that looked so far away across the green treetops, now stare you in the face, and they are so much uglier than when their angles were softened by vines and shrubs.

In the beginning of My Antonia Jim is on a train. the train moved fast when looking from the outside, yet on the inside, it is a slow calming ride that makes you feel like a baby in a rocking cradle.

Chunk #2: discuss the effect a setting on you, including imagery (lots of adjectives) and a simile or a metaphor as you describe the land.
Me in study hall 3B makes me feel as if nothing is important. It is all boring and tiring making me want to sleep. The creak of the wood floors makes the sound of crying from the people walking up and down and the lady pioneers playing basketball like a hurt animal.

Leagalize Parkour

Parkour on public property should not be against the law.

Parkour practicioners, or tracuers, are not hurting anyone or anything by doing parkour. We try our best to stay away from from people we could hurt. That is why we stick to empty areas or rooftops.

It is only being "banned" because police like to take the words of laws and twist them around so they can get anyone they choose into trouble. This shows how twisted and crooked the police force is. All they want is to have their way.

They say people will hurt themselves or others when all they care about is money. They think because we do something on our own accord they will get sued if we hurt ourselves. And also that if it doesn't make them money it's a waist of time.

Nothing is wrong with parkour. It is a stress relieving martial art that is slowly going extinct because either someone is using it wrong or people are getting in trouble for just doing it in general. We need to keep parkour alive and thriving throughout the world.
